Healing

All yoga is therapeutic so what makes yoga therapy different?

Yoga therapy has a broader application for overall health, it’s focused on the individual rather than techniques of yoga. Specific tools include postures, breathwork meditation and more and its purpose is to address an individual’s particular needs- physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. Most people come to a Yoga Therapist to get help with or relief from a symptom or health condition like chronic pain, neurological issues, mental health, illness support or healthy ageing. For example, low-back pain, MS, anxiety, cancer or osteoporosis. Yoga Therapy is not a substitute for medical attention.

A Yoga Therapist will do individual assessments and then tailor a clients practice to their goals. They empower self-healing within a therapeutic relationship either individually or within small groups. They have completed additional training of at least 2 years and an extensive clinical practicum.
